Incstone Now Builds Gantry Websites! |

In addition to our Joomla-based websites, Incstone Design now builds sites based on Gantry!
What is Gantry, you ask? Well, to put it simply from the folks who created Gantry:
"Gantry is a comprehensive set of building blocks to enable the rapid development and realization of a design into a flexible and powerful web platform theme."
What Gantry is, is a framework modification of Joomla that allows for a wider array of variables to allow for more flexibility than traditional Joomla. In short, there are things that Gantry can do that Joomla can't, and vice versa.
Of course, we still offer the traditional Joomla build and we have no plans to cancel creation of those. Now you have your choice of chocolate or vanilla! |

Not too long ago, I had the chance to discuss some business opportunities with another company. We went through the usual elevator speeches, went over each others’ businesses and how we could help one another, and the like. However, when it came to exchanging business cards, I noticed something different about theirs: their domain ended in .bz (for those of you not in the know, .bz stands for Belize, a small Central American country). When I got back to the office, I went to look at their website online, only to find it didn't exist. It took a couple more minutes to determine that their website didn’t end in .bz, but rather .biz (a relatively newer domain for businesses). Having doublechecked the card and confirming the cards had the smaller domain on them, I was surprised that they had actually allowed the mistake to occur, especially on something as important as business cards. Additionally, on closer inspection I noticed that the card was cut off-center, indicating poor quality for their printer.

The Power of Tortilla Marketing |

Something my grandmother taught me when I was a kid has stayed with me to this day and has been an important tool throughout my entire life. It’s probably something that I shouldn’t mention here, but I honestly think I’d be remiss if I didn’t, so I’m going to share that secret with you today: never doubt the power of tortilla packaging.
I’m sure that right about now several of you are probably looking at the above phrase and think I’ve gone off the deep end, while others’ eyes are probably glazing at this latest nugget of bizspeak, thinking it to be along the lines of leveraging and whatever other buzzwords business gurus tend to invent when they think people are starting to realize they’re just blowing smoke. But hear me out: it’s not a buzzword, and it’s not the crazed ramblings of a guy spending one too many hours at his desk. It’s actually common sense, the kind that comes from the heart of old Mexican abuelitas.

When designing a logo, colors can be important. Not just because of how your favorite colors apply or even due to the fact that you like a particular shade of green, but also because of color theory. One color can mean different things to different people, and what might mean "courage" to a person in New York might mean "evil" to an individual in Tokyo...and marital bliss to a couple in Mumbai. While the chances of running into a situation like this may have been minimal 20 years ago, the internet has made it much easier to experience other cultures and values and one of those is color theory.
